The dear wife of Geoffrey Botkin, Mrs. Victoria Botkin, has been a sweet encouragement to me and I have loved every moment that I have spent with her. She is a godly woman who spills over with gracious encouragement, a truly edifying woman to be around.

Now, you have the opportunity to spend time gleaning from her wisdom online! Mrs. Botkin will be sharing with other ladies via the internet:

  • All about Eve
  • All about Sarah
  • About the Proverbs 31 wife
  • About love
  • How to help your husband love you
  • How to become a wise woman

I do hope you will join us in learning from this wonderful Titus 2 example, by registering here! You can read more about these nine delightfully encouraging evenings here, which will begin this coming Monday.

(There are a couple giveaways right now for a free registration here {ends tonight} and here {ends this Lord’s Day}.)

Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior,
not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,
so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands,
to love their children, to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind,
being subject to their own husbands,
so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

—Titus 2:3-5

Myself, Kyleigh (who lives in the Middle East), and Breezy.

Last weekend we attended, along with over 2600 others, the National Center for Family Integrated Churches’ Sufficiency of Scripture Conference in Covington, KY. The conference began on Thursday night and ended Saturday night (we stayed through Sunday so that we could be there for the church service and travel home awake).

Two of the Long ladies posing for a picture with Lauren.

There was a plethora of wonderful, godly speakers including Paul Washer, Geoff Botkin, Doug Phillips, and Voddie Baucham. Their messages were both edifying and convicting. I was unable to take notes at very many of the sessions because taking photographs kept me pretty busy.

Myself and Emily.

Above are a few shots from after the Sunday morning service. I hope to post more photographs after I receive them from the NCFIC. In the meantime, for more pictures, you can visit the NCFIC blog.

Speaking of the Sufficiency of Scripture Conference, Life in a Shoe is giving away three audio collections of the messages that were given at the conference – to three entrants. Head on over there to enter the giveaway (it ends tonight)!

Also, today is the last day for the big sale over at Vision Forum. As a special treat for the last day, our bundle of Daughters of His Story Paper Dolls is the Deal-of-the-Day at 55% off—the lowest price yet! The sale ends at Midnight, so you will want to head on over to Vision Forum to order some paper dolls (and look at what other encouraging things they have on sale!).

You may not realize, but at our website NobleRosePress.com we have a blog where we share quotes, homemaking skills, tutorials, ideas, as well as history and news about the Daughters of His Story Paper Dolls.

Recently we posted a couple of tutorials on laminating paper dolls and magnetizing them. Laminating helps to prevent any tears or other damage to your paper dolls and their dresses as well as protects and strengthens them for long-term enjoyment. This is especially nice for little girls who may be a bit young to play with paper dolls.

After laminating them, you may wish to magnetize them so that they can be played with on the fridge at home or a cookie sheet when traveling (thank you for the grand idea, Shannon!).

Would you like to win one of the Daughters of His Story Paper Doll collections?

Monica at The Homespun Heart is giving away three collections to three winners, each winning the collection of their choice. Ends tomorrow, Thursday, October 22nd at 10pm EST.

Dawn at My Home Sweet Home Online is giving away three collections – one to each of the three winners (winner’s get to choose desired collection). Ends Sunday, October 25th.

Mrs. Bluedorn of Trivium Pursuit will be giving away a bundle of all three collections to one winner at the Homeschooling with the Trivium Facebook page. The contest will run on Friday—make sure to become a fan of their Facebook page so that you can enter!

Acorns & Autumn

September 22, 2009

Today is the first day of Autumn. This is my favorite season. Not only because it’s my color season, but also because in this season when we prepare for winter we

drive to the local apple orchard, enjoy the smells, and bring home bushels of apples,

listen to the dry leaves crunching under little, happy feet,

smell the smoke of a flaming campfire,

watch the fields of corn that surround us being harvested,

feel the crisp breeze warning of what is fast approaching, and

sip warm apple cider on a chilly morning.

What comes to mind when you think of Autumn?

If you are looking for a couple of lovely giveaways, be sure to stop by:

My Life Belongs to Him where Emily Elizabeth is giving away an Autumn Acorn Apron & Potholders, which she made to give away in celebration of Autumn. Ends:  Monday, September 28th at Midnight

Seven Sisters where Leah is giving away an Edwardian Apron. They also have two more giveaways coming up, each on the following Monday! Ends: Saturday, September 26th

We’ve had some very close guesses, and if two of them were put together you would find out what the *project* is. The first person to correctly guess what we were working on will win one of our C’s! Click here for more details!

A Home Business + Giveaway

September 2, 2009

Breezy and Emily Rose

Breezy and I, this is our “official” picture for the project.

The *project* is a part of our new home business. Breezy and I are working on a project that the Lord has blessed us with that we pray He will use in the lives of many young ladies!

The whole process has been a wonderful learning opportunity. The resources that we have found most helpful have been New Venture Lab and the Entrepreneurial Bootcamp (and of course our sweet mother who did lots of research as we worked). During the whole process it has been amazing to see God’s hand in all of it — only by God’s grace have we been able to accomplish this!

On Friday we will announce what our project is!

In the meantime you can continue to guess what the *project* might be, as the first person to guess correctly (in a comment on Breezy’s blog or mine) will receive one of the C’s we’ve been working on (the winner can choose which one)! To help you out, we (Breezy and I) will be posting clues over the next couple days.

Start guessing away!

Stay tuned in so you don’t miss out on the surprise!

*Pod Pocket Giveaway*

May 27, 2009

If you want to enter some great giveaways, head on over to Sew, Mama, Sew!
It’s Giveaway Day!

I’m giving away a bright pea green Pod Pocket!

The pocket is a durable, decorative and protective case for your iPod or iPhone. Your hi-tech gadget will fit snugly inside (just like a bug in a rug!).

Specs about the Pod Pocket:

• This case is perfect for the iPhone, and iPod Touch. It also works great for other things (e.g. cell phones, mp3 players, notes, trinkets, etc.).

• The flat dimensions are 5 inches by 2.75 inches.

• When your iPod/iPhone slips into its case, the case will slightly stretch width-wise and shorten height-wise, with the finished size being the exact shape of the iPod/iPhone.

• Ear buds/phones can be wrapped around the case and tucked under the flap. If you plug in the buds and want to close it in the case, the cord can stick out right beside the flap.

If you’d like to guarantee that you get your own Pod Pocket, just drop by the shop and purchase your own (they’re only $9)!

I will be listing more colors this week (there are 12 colors all together), so don’t forget to check back!

To Enter the Giveaway:

Comment on this post telling me what your plans are for the summer.

I ship internationally, so you can enter no matter where you live!
The winner will be picked via random number.

Deadline to enter is June 1st at 6:00pm EST.

Photo Shoot with the Fruit

February 24, 2009

A contest deadline was yesterday . . . and we made it in just in time. Just in time (I cannot stress that enough).

My project was to photograph a still life that gives glory to God. Fruit was my choice, as it shows God’s amazing creativity and care in designing even the little things.

They were positioned just right in an old enamelware bowl, propped up by an apple (who hid in the back).

In the background are two foam core boards which I painted my favorite color.

To brighten the left side, I had my dear sister hold up a white foam board which reflected light onto the darker side (a tip I learned from a previous photography judge).

The top pick is the one on the bottom left, which was sent away in the mail just yesterday. The photo shoot with the fruit has ended for now, but there will probably be another one some day.

As to the contest, the Lord is in control and His will will be accomplished! Praise be to God!

Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord while I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

- Psalm 146:1-2 -

P.S. Just a little heads up, a new design of Simply Vintagegirl should arrive in a few days.
