Chocolate Orange Torte

Have you ever had one of those chocolate oranges that you crack and eat in orange-slice-shape pieces? Image that flavor, only in a cake-brownie. Delicious! This is a wonderful gluten-free/grain-free/dairy-free dish to share with guests – they won’t even notice the difference.

And, as if it couldn’t get any better, it’s healthy…

Chocolate Orange Torte

Chocolate Orange Torte

1/2 cup blanched almond flour (we use Honeyville)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
3 eggs
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup coconut oil, melted
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (we use Enjoy Life‘s dairy-free chips)
5 drops orange essential oil (we use Young Living because it is pure and safe to ingest) or 1/2 teaspoon of orange extract

In a bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients. In another bowl, combine the dry ingredients except the chocolate chips. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

Poor batter into a well-oiled 10-inch spring-form pan. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool.

This is our version of Elana’s Double Chocolate Orange Torte.

This looks absolutely delicious!! I am going to try the torte for sure. I went gluten/refined sugar free(for the most part. I still have my weak points) almost a year ago, so I am always extremely excited to find desserts like this one! Than you for sharing. :)

    Hello Emily Rose. =)
Thank you so much for sharing your recent gluten-free discoveries and recipes. My grandpa recently found out that he needs to go gluten-free, so it’s been an adventure for my grandma…and I would love to help out by baking/cooking some gluten-free items. Now I just need to stock up on unique ingredients, like almond flour… =) This looks delicious!!

Oh my goodness, that looks so good! I’ll have to try that.

Does it make any difference using Almond flour rather than Wheat? Do you think that I would have to make any changes if using my regular Whole Wheat flour?

I couldn’t resist, tried it,we have a large family, so I doubled the recipe. I was delicious, but little oily, we loved the taste of light coconut, next time I’ll try to reduce the amount of the coconut oil , or increase the amount of the almond flour. Thanks for sharing :)

Viola, glad you all enjoyed it! If it is the coconut taste you’d like to lighten up on, you can use expeller-pressed coconut oil instead of virgin as it does not have the strong coconut flavor.

This is delicious! It’s so moist and tastes like a fudgy brownie. My family enjoyed it. :)By the way, I made my own almond flour again–blanching the almonds first makes it so much better.
