My whole life I have been fascinated with buttons. Their look, their sound, and what they do. I suppose that that is one reason why I like blogging and working on the computer — I can hear the clicking of what I’m doing.
There are those times where I begin typing and going so fast that my family jokes about me needing to be careful so that my fingers don’t fly off. I find this quite a humorous thought, as usually when they say this I’m not really paying attention to how loud I am being.
When we go to garage sales and there is a keyboard there, I usually type on it to see if the clicks sound nice. On one occasion I liked the sound so well that I bought an old keyboard that would be of no use but to play with. We still have it, and I have never found another keyboard that sounded as clickishly wholesome.
Growing up, I always enjoyed watching the cashiers at the grocery store. And if I ever had the chance to look at all the keys they would push, I would, and try to figure out what each one was for. I liked the sound of the Enter button the best.
I still am fascinated by buttons, what they sound like, and what they do. I guess it’s just one of my quirks. A pleasant one I think . . . click, click, click.

. . . can be read over at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee!
Sarah Mae asked my sister and I to write posts about being homeschooled, and we happily obliged. We have been homeschooling for 11 years now, and they have been eleven wonderful years which we have seen the Lord’s mighty hand working in our lives and bringing us closer together as a family.
So, with no further a due, click here to read my post (title: Homeschooling is our lifestyle . . .) about of our wonderful home educating experience! By the way, my sister’s post is also featured today at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee (Momma also wrote an article which was posted yesterday).
P.S. If you’ve just arrived from Sarah Mae’s blog, you might consider joining in on snippets of my inspirations by joining here!

The happy little buds on the Lilac tree.

Green is coming back into the cheeks of the chickens and hens.

Tiny leaves peeping from the Honeysuckle vines.

“I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonders.
I will be glad and exult in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.”

Have you ever struggled to redeem the time, thinking, “Is there something more profitable that I could be doing?” Our time can be spent unwisely and disappear on the unnecessary things if our priorities are not where they should be.
I really appreciate Anna Sofia’s post, “Am I wasting my life?” where she shares how they decide what they will do with their time by asking questions about the task in question. In the post she writes:
“A Christian doesn’t want to do something just for the personal enjoyment she gets out of it — she wants to serve others. Thus our endeavors, whether entrepreneurial or ministry, should be driven by the needs of others, rather than by our own interests. When we find ourselves feeling aimless and purposeless, it’s time to move our focus back to His kingdom interests, and lay our personal desires and dreams and hobbies on the altar.“
It is our natural sinful tendency to gravitate towards doing the things that we desire, rather than making the sacrifices to do the things that are of eternal significance.
I encourage you to go and read the article, I think you will be encouraged.
“Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” – James 4:14

A case was needed for my iPod (which is great for listening to sermons while working on a project), so I decided to make my own.
I crocheted an oval and continued to single crochet around until it was the desired height (about the height of the Pod). Then I crocheted back and forth the width of the flap, making sure to leave a hole for the button. I tied the button down with two pieces of yarn and then sewed all the yarn ends into the crocheting. Voila!

Modeled by my dear sister, Breezy.
Currently Creating: A bag/purse for the Father & Daughter Retreat. I am making it out of green corduroy and soft floral printed cotton.

Two years ago today, Mrs. Chancey hosted the Christian Homemakers Online Conference where women all over the nation were able to hear and interact with the speakers all in their own living room. This was the first online conference that we attended.
During the conference, I was able to “meet” and chat with a young lady named Rebecca who was also a stay-at-home daughter. After the conference we emailed back and forth, keeping up with one another and encouraging each other in our walks with the Lord.
For two years we have written each other, and have become dear friends. Last month at the Christians at the Crossroads conference our families were able to meet in person for the first time!
Then, just two weeks ago we had the wonderful opportunity to host them for the weekend! There was a Men’s Leadership Summit in Indianapolis the 5th-7th, so while the men were at the conference the ladies stayed with us.

Rebecca, Mrs. T, and Rachel.

Tracing the pattern (this was a posed shot so that everyone got there hand in the picture).
Momma showed the girls how to copy a pattern (using Mrs. Chancey’s Edwardian Apron for the example) onto pattern interfacing, a skill we have found very helpful that saves both time and money. There was also a live Pizza Tutorial.
Breezy showed them how to do there hair in lovely do’s (and I do mean lovely!) and I gave them a lesson on blogging and image-editing programs
Most of our time together was spent talking — a refreshing, encouraging, inspiring, and uplifting pass time that was enjoyed by all!
The conference ended Saturday afternoon, and our fathers and their brothers came back to our house and stayed the night. The next morning we all went to church together, and afterwords we talked for a couple more hours and then it was time for them to go. It was a sad goodbye, but I was so glad that they were able to come!
It was wonderful to be around other young ladies who find joy in being and dressing feminine and serving the family that the Lord has blessed them with. I am thankful to have such sweet friends as the T’s, they have been such a blessing to all of us!

Thank you all so much for the many name suggestions for our Dear Little Friend! There were so many sweet ones to choose from that it has taken me a while to decide.
After quite a bit of thought and looking over the list of names, I have decided to name her Molly (which was suggested by Cinnamon).
The name Molly is originated from Ireland and means “sea of bitterness.” But for our dear little Molly, that does not apply. She is a joyful friend, who finds pleasure in the little things of life.
A deciding factor was that one of our favorite literary heroines is Molly Gibson from Wives and Daughters (by Elizabeth Gaskell), a sweet and submissive young lady who was a treasure to all she met.
So, in honor of our dear Molly, I have created a new button which you can use to link to me. I hope you enjoy it, feel free to put it on your blog! All you have to do is copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the code below in the HTML where you would like it to be.
(If you would like a non-animated button, click here to get the code.)

And to make sure you don’t miss any posts, join me here!

These sunglasses pop up every now and then.
This time Bently got to take a turn wearing them. He held pretty still, long enough for his “close up.”
Surprisingly he didn’t mind me putting them on him.
Actually, he seemed rather fond of them.
