Photo Shoot with the Fruit
February 24, 2009

A contest deadline was yesterday . . . and we made it in just in time. Just in time (I cannot stress that enough).
My project was to photograph a still life that gives glory to God. Fruit was my choice, as it shows God’s amazing creativity and care in designing even the little things.
They were positioned just right in an old enamelware bowl, propped up by an apple (who hid in the back).
In the background are two foam core boards which I painted my favorite color.
To brighten the left side, I had my dear sister hold up a white foam board which reflected light onto the darker side (a tip I learned from a previous photography judge).
The top pick is the one on the bottom left, which was sent away in the mail just yesterday. The photo shoot with the fruit has ended for now, but there will probably be another one some day.
As to the contest, the Lord is in control and His will will be accomplished! Praise be to God!
“Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord while I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”
- Psalm 146:1-2 -
P.S. Just a little heads up, a new design of Simply Vintagegirl should arrive in a few days.

While living the life my Lord has blessed me with, I am at home with my family enjoying being a daughter, homemaker and artist. My highest goal is to give glory to God and enjoy Him forever. It is He that has saved me with His amazing grace and is continually molding me; to Him I owe everything. Read more . . .

Dear Emily Rose,
Those are some beautiful pictures. I like the one on the top right, but that is probably because I like to eat limes like some people eat oranges. Well, now you’re thinking “weird” and you are probably right.
Blessings,
Elizabeth
Great job and thanks for the tip on how to reflect light! I really like the one you chose to send in. Is there any chance you could offer prints in your Etsy shop? I know I’d like one!
Oo…I like this photoshoot! I would have never thought to paint boards for the background… it’s perfect!
(A new design?? Oh me, oh my!)
Those are lovely dear one! My favourite is in the left column, middle.

Such beautiful shots! You are very talented!
Best of luck to you, fellow contestent!!
I entered too, and just got mine delivered yesterday!!! Then when I was back home, I relized I had (somehow) forgotten to include the thumbnail image…I called them and they were very nice about it and said I could maail it in :).
LOVELY pictures!

Very nice Em! My favorite is the apple in the foreground. It reminds my of someone looking in just as the shot goes off. :) I know that’s silly, but. . .
Anywho, I am thankful you mentioned the white board. I often forget to do things like that to help my shots.
Have a wonderful evening!
Love,
Marie :)
Beautiful!! Whether you win or not, it is so wonderful to see someone who uses their gifts to first of all bring glory to God!
I give you an A++! (add however many “+’s” to that as you wish! lol)
Lovingly,
~Missie~

Those all look gorgeous!
I see what “Shutterbug” means about the picture with the apple in the foreground!!! She has an active imagination :-)
I can’t wait to see the new blog design, and thanks for the tip on the white foam board, I’ll have to remember that…did you use a flash?
4Him,
~Hannah
It’s been so long since we’ve visited your blog, just had to visit again. Not sure if we ever mentioned this before, but you have such a nice layout! So simple and easy and pretty, love it!

Great kitchen inspiration! I’ve thought about using that blue for painting my kitchen and then adding splashes of other colors. I’ve never painted blue in my home (besides my sons’ room) so I’ve been a little hesitant but I do like the colors in your photos.
Emily, I LOVE these pictures. The background color is so fresh! Keep using the gift God has given you.
