This week has gone quite well, though very busy! We visited with family from out of town, got our heating system up and running, and I have been very inspired in the department of creativity.

Autumn weather is starting to feel more like winter, and we are expecting snow in the near future. It is getting into the 50°s through the day, and was getting chilly in the house. Needless to say, we had been bundled up for several days since we had no heat.

A friend from church offered to install our new boiler for us for free in his spare time. We are very grateful to him for using his time to work on our house. It took three weeks to finish (it was only worked on in the evenings a couple nights each week). He and Daddy stayed up until 2am on Friday morning and got it all finished.

Now it is all warm and cozy in the house, perfect for a nice long nap.

Friday afternoon we went to the home of a friend for tea. It was a lovely little event.

Her husband and little boy went out to do some manly things, her baby slept in the living room, and her daughter (who is three) joined us for tea.

There were scones and tasty Ginger Peach tea. Jam and cream were served alongside the scones, which made for a delicious side.

She is a very crafty Momma, and we were greatly inspired by the little things she has made for her home and wee ones.

We’ve had several people over this past week, including both family and friends. When having company it is easy to focus on what the house looks like, and making sure everything is just right. But is that the reason why we have people over? So they can see our nice and clean house?

Most likely they are coming to visit with our family. We want the house clean enough to be peaceful, but also messy enough to be happy. It is hard to find an in between.

My hope is that our company can find joy at our home, feel at home, and see Christ’s work amongst us.

Today is Miss Amanda’s 19th birthday! I encourage you all to go to her blog and wish her a happy birthday! We originally met through blogging, and then actually met in real life. She is a sweet young lady, and I am glad to call her friend.

I have been working on some digital goodies for you all, and they should be finished soon for your enjoyment!

That sounds like a lovely tea, and the family is very enjoyable. We do not have people over to our house very often, except you and family, for you understand how inhospitable the layout of our house is. But we have many plans to have others over when a certain little event changes.

I will now wish Amanda a happy birthday!

    Love
    Your Cousin

If you are inspired in the realm of creativity Miss Emily Rose, than I greatly long to see her house! She must be extremely creative – I wish I made half the amount of crafts you do! I love to make things, but am not a very good steward of my time. However, with me working on Christmas presents, I have a little inspiration.

I have a little confession to make to you. I am stealing your wonderful notebook idea and making about 10 of them for Christmas!! :) I hope you don’t mind!

    Have a fantazgreat day!

    Love Jess

    Hey there Emily Rose -
Glad you guys got your heating in. I don’t know what I would do without heat in the house! haha… Well, glad you guys got it fixed anyways.

That would be neat to go to an actual tea party. I wanted to host one, but I realized a very big problem – I don’t have a tea set! LOL. I would need one before I would be able to host one. Oh well… maybe I’ll get one someday.

Can’t wait to see some photos! :) Can’t wait for them…

Well, from the looks of everything, it’s going to be a cold winter! Maybe just a white Christmas, but not a full 3-1/2 months of cold.

Yes, I am hoping to have a party for my birthday. Why, you girls wanna come? (hint hint)

Grits are a hot cereal. They are good with butter and honey. You can get hominy grits, or a different kind. I’m not sure how many different kinds there are. :)

I am working on learning that. Maybe you could learn it again too.

    love and blessings!
    love,
    Rachel

Heating has never been a big problem for us, we do have a heater, and that helps a lot, but we also have a very good wood stove. My Dad just has to make the smallest of fires and we are all lying about in summer clothes trying to cool off, while there is a blizzard outside! :) I’m sure it would be fun to sit by our door and watch one of us stumble out every once in awhile gasping for air. Then go back inside after standing for a few moments. :)

I love to have company, we don’t get if very often though as we live rather far out on a very, very bumpy gravel rode, and after the first visit most people say we can go to their house! :)

I have slowly learned to eat cream cheese although it has to have a LOT of sugar added for me to really eat it without thinking how much I didn’t like it in my head. :)

I love to play Phase Ten! It is one of my favorite games, although not a lot of people will play with me! I like the game Five Crowns better though I think, I’ve not yet decided. Have you heard about it, or played it?

I can’t wait to read 101 things about you, I really enjoyed reading Maggie’s, I feel I know her so much better! I’ve been thinking about doing it as well, I’ll have to wait and see.

Hello Emily! It was so nice to hear from you again! :D
Yes, I am very excited about my researching/sewing. However I hardly know how to sew.

First I need to make my apron – it is vintage style, cut out ‘n all in an atrocious orange-floral print, ready and waiting to be pieced and sewn together. Quite 50’s looking, and actually kind of cute. :) Do you make just regular aprons, or are they old fashioned style? For how long have you been sewing? After I make my apron, I will start on the arduous task of sewing (all with my mom’s help, of course… She can sew, but is still learning,) a girls sized, simple middle class colonial era dress in a feminine print fabric of lovely pale lavender flowers.
Ahem, enough of my rambling now. ;)

I decided to do a different story too! Civil War era novels just seem a bit typical too, don’t they? They can be very interesting though. ;) I’m now doing one about some young siblings, their family, and their adventures on the American home front of WWII. I adore the 1940’s. 8) Wow, a Medieval tale will be fascinating! Is it about a boy or a girl? Any details yet?
Do you have any ideas for your WWII story?

 The lil’ panda guy IS adorable. I couldn’t help but post him. :)

You have a blessed week too ~
    TTYL!
