While at an antique shop last week, I saw this tin can that caught my eye. Standing 9 inches in height and 4.75 inches in width, this tin once held 4 In-Er-Seal packets of Premium Saltine Crackers.

For a nice vintage-looking tin, I thought it was worth it. On one side is a Spanish translation. In the same place where the English side says 4 In-Er-Seal packets, on the Spanish side it says (translated) “four packages moisture-proof.”

I found the How To Use In-Er-Seal Packets instructions quite humorous.

The bottom and inside of the can are quite rusty, but I think it just adds to the vintage look. No where on the tin is there a list of ingredients or nutrition facts.

The colours are a light turquoise, red and navy blue. Turquoise is one of my favorite colors, so that made the tin extra pretty in my eyes. With old tins being one of the things I have accumulated over the past couple years, I am happy to add this one to my collection.

It looks pretty “vintage” to me! I have an old Calumet can (baking powder), which holds conch shells to play the Filipino shell game “Sunka.” That Calumet can is probably 40+ years old and precious to me!
Years ago I had a tin like this in really awesome condition. It was full of vintage buttons. We had to sell most of our vintage stuff when we went through financial difficulties. It went to an elderly gentleman for his dear wife who collected buttons. Love your site. I am Pokadots and Monkeys mom.
Reading those instructions made me laugh. I especially liked the TO RECLOSE: instructions!

That’s a neat looking tin can! I love to stroll through some antique stores and see old items and get a feel of how things used to be like back in those days.
Hello. Your tin looks pre 1969. The 1969 tin had a date on it. The 1970s tins had a change in color to a navy blue lid. Whatever the date it is a very cool find! Enjoy! Blessings Tina at Morningstar Academy.
Hi thanks for the comment. My dad liked the ducks to.
Oh, that brings back memories! my Grandma has that same tin, she keeps it full of gingersnaps:)

Ooo, I love it! — So…1940′s, 50′sish. I love vintage too, but particularly those eras. ;)
I will definitely look into doing the One Year Adventure Novel! Sounds like you have a good plan for writing your story/novel. :) I’d love to someday read it ;) I’ll tell you a bit about mine….
It is about a boy named Jesse Montgomery, during the American Civil War of course. I would probably call it The South Shall Never Rise Again, or Beside the Long River; I’m not sure. I’d like to include a runaway slave named Israel who joined the Union forces and has some kind of impression on Jesse. Jesse’s older brother Aden is also enlisted, and I’m thinking Jesse ends up enlisting afterward, as a drummer boy or something I simply don’t know! It’s not very rooted. I do know he comes from a more wealthy family in Tennessee and is greatly troubled by the south’s resistance, etc. Jesse, of course, has a mental transformation about the confederacy… That the union lives on, and that “the south shall never rise again.” As I said, it’s not very established.
I’ve always found the Civil War intriguing… I adore absorbing my brain cells in the past of this land that I love, and find an interest in almost every era. I am confident that as a new generation of American youth, we should all have a knowledge of her history.
I particularly am drawn to the American Revolution, the War between the States, WWII (also for world history) and the 50′s. :D It appears you have an interest in history. What is your favorite era? Do you do any sewing? For this school years history studies, my mom is allowing me to set aside my text book and research/sew historical dresses. It will help me learn sewing too. :D
Looking forward to hearing from you, Emily! :)
Sorry for the tome :(
Have a great day!

Post Script: And thanks for your comment! :D
